FAQs - VOD Rentals

Q. Can I use a Non-DRM video assets in a rental?

No, all rentals must be uploaded as CineSend DRM.

Q. Can I add an introduction or pre-recorded Q&A to my rental?

Yes, you can add as many Video Assets as you need to the Show being rented, provided they are all uploaded as DRM. You can drag and drop to reorder the assets on the Show, in the Video Assets box.

Q. Can I add a pre-recorded Q&A to my Rental Pass Offer after it's already gone on sale?

Yes! Upload your Q&A as a DRM Video Asset and attach it to the Show. It will be added to the playlist for all passholders with access to that show. Anyone who has not viewed the rental and gone past their 24h watch window will be able to view it.

Q. What if I want to extend the rental availability period or offer a second availability window for the same rental?

No problem, you have 2 options: (1) If you want to track the views and purchases of the extended rental separately from the previous window, you can set up a new Show, and attach the same Video Assets, it'd be the same standard per-rental setup fee. You can reuse the video assets so you won't be charged ingest fees again. (2) If you want to avoid the setup fee, you can just edit the availability window on your existing rentals, but all views of the Shows will be tracked together.

Q. If I'm selling rental passes to a shorts program, do I attach each individual video asset to each individual short Movie, or each individual short Movie to the Rental Pass Offer?

No, you should attach all the Video Assets directly to the Shorts Program, and then attach just the Shorts Program to the Rental Pass Offer.

If you wanted people to watch each individual short in a separate player (which is not typically desired), you could attach each Video Asset to the short, and then each short to the Rental Pass Offer.

Q. How can I test out my rentals to make sure the correct Video Assets are attached, and in the correct order?

You can issue yourself a comp rental pass that provides access to that Show, and then view the rental while logged in. While you are logged in, your views are not restricted by geoblocking settings, the availability window on the rental, and your views don't count towards any view limits you have set. You will still be charged for any minutes you stream, however.

Q. One of our patrons is having an issue viewing a rental. How can I help them?
