FAQs - Design

Q. How can I create a page that lists all of my VOD Rentals, events at a certain venue, or other category that doesn't have a built-in template?

The Flexible Content template should be your go-to solution for all types of custom pages, and this scenario, you'll want to use the "Featured Shows" section.

In order to make a page that lists all your rentals, for example, go to Pages > Add New, on the right sidebar, choose the "Flexible Template" option, and click save. Add a new "Featured Shows" section to the content, and add all your rental films to the section. Keep in mind that you can spice up the page by adding a splashy heading using the "Featured Text" section, or more than one Featured Shows section.

Q. Can I change the Date & Time format that's used throughout the site? We'd like to add the day of the week (or make some other change, like removing the year or displaying the timezone).

Yes, go to Settings > General, and you can update the Date Format and Time Format. These formats will be used throughout your site. Read more about how to create custom date and time formats in WordPress.

Q. I'd like to insert a newsletter signup popup, or other 3rd party widget into my site, but whenever I paste the code snippet into a page or widget and save, it gets stripped out. Help!

For security reasons, we don't allow users to put any custom code that contains <script> tags or <iframe> tags, but if you email the code snippet to us, we can put it in for you. Note that once we put the code in, you'll need to refrain from any further edits to the page or widget, or else it will be stripped out again.

Q. I'm trying to figure out how to change the color of this one thing on my custom page, but I can't figure out the CSS. Can you help?

Sure, we are always happy to help with simple/singular CSS tasks. Send us an email and we can provide you with the snippet or tip that you need.

Q. I'd like to do something custom with my site's design that the template really doesn't support out of the box. Can you help with our custom design ideas?

Sure, we can help with this type of customization work, but may need to charge a fee. Send us an email with your request, and we can optionally set up a call to discuss it and provide a quote. If you have someone in-house that knows CSS, we provide full access to add your own custom CSS in the Customizer > Additional CSS field

Q. Our in-house designer is trying to put some custom CSS into our site, but they said the template is missing some classes or IDs that are needed. Can you help?

Probably! Please have them email support@filmbot.com and we'll see if we can add them to the template or otherwise provide a CSS selector that would work.
