Building Your Menus

There are 2 locations in your website's template where you can assign navigation menus, the primary menu, and the footer menu.

Primary Menu

  • Located across the masthead of your site, to the right of the logo
  • Supports dropdowns
  • Only supports one level of dropdowns (i.e. just one vertical dropdown, no "fly-outs" for third level menus)
  • Collapses to a "hamburger menu" on mobile

Footer Menu

  • Located at the bottom of every page
  • Menu items are separated with slashes
  • Only supports one level of menu items
  • Does not collapse on mobile

How to Edit Menus

  1. Go to Appearance > Menus
  2. Next to "Select a menu to edit" choose the menu you'd like to work on, and click "Select"
  3. Select from the content on the left to add to the menu. You can also add a "Custom Link" to link to any URL.
  4. Drag & drop to reorder your menu items. If you're working on the menu in the Primary menu location, you can drag and indent items slightly to the right to create a dropdown.
  5. For more advanced options, such as custom classes or the option to open the item in a new tab, pull down the Screen Options at the top right of the page, and check the boxes for the fields you want to edit (CSS Classes, Link Target, etc.)
  6. Be sure to click "Save Menu" when you're done.
